Mazdatrix offers new rotor housings one for an
89-92 N/A Front housing will run you $571.90 They also have the rear
housing as well.
I have a paper which showed that the exhaust
splitters reduce the noise energy by 8 DB - a considerable amount. The
fact that it did reduce the noise level by that much was cause for the
conclusion by a number of folks that using a turbo housing without the
obstruction to exhaust flow would result in more power.
So, Joe, I guess my question is if you are
willing to go to the cost and effort to produce a PP (for more power presumably)
then why would you be willing to give up power by using a NA housing with
a splitter.
On the other hand, I am not aware of any dyno
charts showing use of a turbo and N/A housing and the effects on power so there
may not be that much of a difference. I just keep remember about
reading that the power output of a rotary was very sensitive to
exhaust back-pressure and have always tried to keep my exhaust system free
flowing..
Perhaps our list expert, Lynn, could provide some
credible info on this question.
Good luck, I would like to see someone produce a
PP, several have come close, but none seem to ever end up in an
aircraft.
Best Regards
Ed

Subject: [FlyRotary] Rotor Housings
Does anyone have a set of new rotor housings for
89 to 92 13B? Where should one look? What is a good price
for them? I want to build a P Port but I wonder if the non turbo variety
would help for noise suppression? Thanks for any help.
