Al, the fellows that are using the Catto Prop on
the Wittman Tailwind, with 180 hp are able to get over 230 at sea level, Craig
has the wood prop really figured out. The Tailwind guys are saying the 3
blade is smoother, but as ever one knows, it is bear to ship and doesn't seem to
help the speed any. JohnD

selection
The
direct bid from MT, was for $14,850, including the spinner and some other
accessories. The Craig Catto prop was for less than $3000, and the
performance figures were almost identical.
The Catto prop
on my Velocity 20B cost $1750
and weighs 17 lbs. My take of roll is in line with, and my cruise
burn is lower for the same speeds as the
Velocity guys that paid
$10,000 more for an MT that weigh 33 lbs more. Not to mention expensive
servicing later. Puzzling. Maybe on a hot day somewhere at high
altitude I’ll get a hint.
