In this example, the Oil pan is mostly a flat plate. A segment of a large
diameter tube is grafted along one side to carry away spent oil. The oil pickup
for the pump is external and done by replicating the hole and bolt pattern of
the port in the front iron in the oil pan (plate) A steel fitting or formed tube
is fitted with a flange to replicate the stock pick up. A paper gasket
between the plate and the iron, and another between the fitting flange and the
plate. The fitting tube may point in any convenient direction. A hose of at
least one inch ID is connected to the fitting and the other end pushed onto the
tube on the remote oil sump. A large diameter hose is fitted to the front
of the pan and takes oil to the sump. Oil level must be as shown (stock oil
level), so suction lift is as stock. Alternative shapes are possible to suit
your installation. The taller the remote sump the more foam will be removed
before the oil is used again.
This system can be used with an after market pressure pump as well.
