I missed that point. Take it out if not too much trouble but no big impact if it is streamlined and you leave it in. Do make sure that at least the actuating pin is out.

The issue is that one end housing has the insert, the other end
doesn't. At this point, I think my best option is to dig the insert out
of the rear housing, and make it look like the front.

George, I believe the number for the variable runner to engage is 4,000RPM.
