A current high enough to make a spark, or some mechanical movement inside the connector. The output of the EC2 should either be at ground or a fairly high resistance so no high current flow from there to ground. The diodes should block flow to another injector that was still connected, so no current flow there. I don't think putting a probe in the connector should move anything enough to make a clicking noise. I don't know what it could be. I'll be looking forward to a report after you get the EC2 back.
