I still think Smokey is playing a joke on all of us.   I remember when he first wrote about the magic engine in the 1970s but would never tell it's secret.  I suspect it was along the lines of the HCCI engine, but we will never know.

 

I suspect it is one joke Smokey took to the grave with him.  I keep expecting the 50mpg Fiero to appear on CraigsList someday. <grin>.
