Interesting, Al

I use the stock plugs and after around 25-30 hours the ceramic cone of mine are completely blackened by what appears to be lead deposits - you recall I use 100LL.  So your plugs still look better after 45 hours than mine after 25.  My understanding is Tracy gets close to 200 hours on a set using primarily Mogas - so you may have considerably life in yours yet.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Spark Plugs

I use the NGK B9EGV plugs in my 20B.  I decided to pull a pair out for a look after 45 hours.  They seem pretty good, but perhaps not as good as I expected since I’ve used nothing but 87 unleaded mogas.  They give quick starts, good performance, and are quite forgiving of flooded conditions.  I was surprised to see a bit of electrode erosion, but I guess racing plugs with strong spark aren’t expected to last like the Champions in my car. The trailing is on the left in the photo, and has an interesting ‘shadow’ going off to the right.

I just though I’d post the photo for anyone’s comment as this is my first experience with these plugs in this engine for this many hours.  Some deposits on the leading - should I maybe consider a step toward a higher heat range?

Happy Holidays!

Al
