Okay,
as far as I read in the last days:
EAA is loosing subscribers fast as they (me too, but am on until sometime next year) get disgruntled with the "performance" of SAA magazine.
Looks more like a sales-brochure than a membership magazine.
Lack of "how-do" articles
Even simple flight reports are lacking in depth info.
Supposedly Jack Cox (?) was told at some time, that no one cares for his aircraft articles (no one in the editing department...)
Hardly if ever anymore you read about plansbuilt aircraft, all kit now, quickbuilt kit better!
Nearly no alternative engines either - liability??
Basically the trend is away from homebuilt, alternative, experimental and towards "semi-commercial" (any of the big-money birds, that sell with builder assistance as a must), certified engine, "don't experiment with my design".
Also it seems the the articles are getting geared to a broader clientele - away from the hardcore experimenter/homebuilder.
Even if P. Poberezny started all this, and was a hardcore homebuilder - don't forget, by now this is their family business and whatever makes money is good!
Supposedly a new editor will "listen" to subscribers, well until renewal comes around they have time to improve, .....otherwise 15 years will have been enough.
I will keep Kitplanes as the articles seem a little more down to the workshop....
Pat, how is it coming with the 3rd "Alternative Engine" book?
I am back in the saddle, and would like to order one! If the print doesn't happen, lay it over into subscription extension for Contact!....
Last: In the last Contact! you mention there will be a special issue about Paul Lipp's prop.
Will this be reprints of articles only or will this include previously unprinted info? (If I have the past issues, do I need this intermediate version?)
Best Regards,
TJ

Ì'll wait to see what happens with the new editor.
Supposedly the old one got sacked because:
a) Had never had a pilot license
b) or built anything coming close to an aircraft
c) Had no interest in airplane stuff
I must admit I'm a little lost here.
Who is being spoken about?
Who got sacked and when?
Who has taken over?
Thanks!
