I just passed eight years on my LongEZ. 670 TT, 505 SMOH, 170 SRD1B. No glider time.
Those engine install pictures on the link you mention are out of date. I did start with the stock induction system, but made a new induction system many years ago that removed it from the top of the engine.
The most recent pictures of the revised cowling with the induction system in the right wing root are on this page:

No recent pictures with the cowl off.
I do wish I had ported the engine in the 2001 overhaul.

IIRC, his Long EZ is running a stock 13B, even the induction system.

As far as power goes, a late-model 13B with good compression
should yield about 140 HP. That's marginal-to-inadequate for a four-
seater such as a COZY, an Aerocanard or an SQ2000, but okay for
most two-seaters.
