There is one exception to the low probability of shorts inside the
connector housing. If you use the metal clamp that come with the
backshell and the wires aren't protected by several layers of tape,
there is a high possibility of internal shorts between the wires. That
metal clamp can easily cut thru the insulation on one or more wires.
Just something else to check.
I recommend never using the metal clamp. Bob Nuckolls has a better way.
