Also look for a darker track from the center electrode to the shell. Of=20
course if you have tracking you will have fouling shortly afterward.

Bob, this is what I have observed. The ceramic will be dark colored -=20
dark charcoal - almost black. But, that would probably look that way=20
with carbon fouling also. But, when I shine a strong light on the=20
ceramic cone, light glitters off of what I believe to be lead crystals=20
- if I am correct then that could be a sign of lead fouling. In other=20
words, carbon fouling appears to leave a dull charcoal/black color=20
whereas the lead apparently leaves dark metallic crystals of some sort.=20
