I assume that your racing friend is happy with the lapping pattern that
he ends up with and does nothing else to the housing surface ??

Kelly,
My hangar mate who races rotaries, does it a different way. He lays
one housing down, smears some valve grinding compound,
lays the other housing on top, and starts sliding it around. Soon
you'll start seeing the high and low spots on both housings. Grind
until satisfied :)
