I wonder if Tracy's reduction uses any components that rely on a heated press fit for retention. I know if my trans cooler fails, my rear seal used to pop out of the tail shaft housing, making a big mess. I now mechanically retain those seals.

Rear seal is retained with a bolted flange. I don’t think there is anything relying on heated press fit.

I disassembled the drive after about 23 hours when I had things apart to fix the loose through bolt that was dripping coolant into the oil, and all gears and bearings appeared as new; so the oil temps there are apparently having no bad effects.  I’ll probably check it again at around 50 hours.
