IIRC, there was some discussion (on ACRE?) that the owner of Diamond did not want the liability / lawsuits
that might be associated with selling the former Midwest (norton) wankels in North America.
The one-rotor may still be available with some of the Schleicher self launch gliders.
A Dragonfly (N222TH in http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp ) pilotted by Rich Goldman, formerly on this list,
did a forced approach as a result of what sounded like an ECU problem.  He may be able to shed more insight
on the Midwest wankel and the engine failure post-mortem.

Does anuone have an insight why Diamond does not build their 2-rotor, certified engine?
Any CoI with the Thielert Diesel sold in the Diamond planes??
