Tracy and I have been discussing this injector flow
rate anomaly for years - it really bothered me to do the math for my algorithms
based on their stated flow-rate specs and then to have to put a "fudge" factor
in the equation to make it "correct". I don't mind a fudge factor if I
know why its required - but, putting one in and not knowing why bugs me a
bit.
Fortunately, once Tracy reveals his secret (may
cost me a dinner and some hauling help {:>)) I can develop the correct
constants for the equation. Nope, I learned my lesson -
firmware is to software like analog designs are to hardware -
you have to rebuild even for a small change {:>)
Hey the HKS is a good little engine in my opinion -
not as good as a light weight rotary (which we don't have yet - Richard! get a
move on {:>)), but it'll get you flying again.

Injector flow rate mystery solved
The only thing I could ever come up
with was that Mazda rated the injectors at 85% flow and we were flowing
them closer to 100% - but, that rational never really convinced
me.
I always thought that was part of it, plus the fact that
Mazda runs their fuel pressure lower than the "standard" of 3 bar, or about
43.5 psi.
Don't worry Ed, I'm sure Tracy will tell you what he
found right after you finish your final firmware version
:-)

Dominator)
