I did quite a bit of flying out of Ft. Pierce, I did my multi-engine ratings there, and I've eaten at that restaurant on more then one occasion. The weather here, though a little cool, was outstanding, so I flew both yesterday and today. I only did .4 yesterday, because the auto gear extension kept extending the gear when it shouldn't. Landed and got that fixed, so I did an hour today, just flying around locally and one landing at a nearby airport, Sanford. I was going to fly the ILS there, but the winds were favoring the other direction, and there was a fair amount of traffic. I love the cool weather for low coolant and oil temps. It was in the upper 40's both days, and coolant never got above190 and oil was below 160 in climb. At cruise the coolant was 160 and oil showed 147. When I throttled back to descend and land though the temps dropped really fast to a much lower temperature than I would like to see. The coolant were only at 110 on touchdown, which is a little too low. I am looking into having a custom aluminum radiator made to the size I need, and do away with the evaporator cores. While they work, with the turbo, it is pretty marginal in hot weather. If I have one made to size, it will increase my actual core size by about 30%, which should get me where I want to be. I saw John's not as well, so it looks like the rotary Cozy's are doing pretty well these days, as far as trouble free flying. I really like the "fuel it and fly it mode". Climbed to 6K feet and leveled off on course. On climb my water temps went to 210 but later in level flight came down to 160 water and 137 oil. Looks like my oil thermostat does not work, and I may need a cowl flap on the cooling intake? The EGT was 1800, so I run rich and used lots of fuel. Was at my destination after 37 minutes. We used to fly one hour on a rented C-172. Had breakfast at the Tiki Bar and in another 35 minutes I was back at FXE. Later on the way back got brave and leaned a lot. it made big difference in the fuel burn. I was flying at 150K average and 5200 rpm MP 24". My both landings were cross wind and I did fine, considering that was only 4th or 5th landing on my own. Liking the plane and the engine more and more and I feel more relaxed. On return I took the cowling off and everything was just the same as before the trip for a change :). The annoying things: The radio is as noisy as ever. Even the hand held was affected. This evening Installed a large capacitor on the alternator and hope that fixes it? My EM2 red light blinks all the time, even if there is nothing on the screen that flashes? I wander if it is the fuel computer that shows zero fuel remaining?? I never bothered to set it to full. Looks like I'm seeing some light at the end of this long tunnel? PP engine is next on my list (after the data logger) and I have started collecting the parts for it. Looking for a rear 20B or Cosmo 13B side housing to fit my bellhousing and starter. That's all i can remember without a data logger :) Buly
