For you guys that have built aluminum wing tanks and are using automotive fuel with ethanol,
which Pro-Seal did you use?
I see two types in the Aircraft Spruce catalog.
One is called Pro Seal P/S 890 Class B ad appears to be a one part sealer.
The other is called Pro-Seal Type tank sealant and is described as a two part polysulfide in a cartridge.

Hi Jim,

I've always bought mine from Van's web store (they sell to anyone, not just builders).  Here's a link to the tank sealant page in their catalog.

If that link doesn't work, here's a shorter one:

As for resistance to anything evil that might get added to auto fuel, I can only say that I don't hear of any problems with auto fuel in RV's.  That might be a good reason to stick with what Van's sells.  An added bonus is that it's quite bit cheaper too.

Also keep in mind that this stuff has a shelf life of about 4 months.   Truth is that I've used it years later (not for anything critical) and it still works fine.

Finally, make sure you get a clothes pin for your nose, because this stuff STINKS :-0

Cheers,
Rusty (fog and rain= intersection fairings)
