when i rebuilt my lycoming my mentor A&P had a "witches brew" that coated everything being assembled. i seem to remember it was a mixture of STP, engine oil, and MMO.

And did you happen to notice that they appeared to be putting everything together dry? I'd have thought a bit of lube here & there would have been called for. Especially on the rotor bearings and gears. Interesting.....
