- Plug Fouling... again.
Tracy,
Is there a way to economically control the MSD coils with the EC-2? Lynn is very satisfied
with the Mallory Hifire system in the racing environment. Having this
high energy ignition system in a rotary powered A/C could possibly reduce or
eliminate the "sag " problem and make starting a flooded engine much
easier. More spark energy could also increase HP and/or increase fuel
efficiency. Currently I am ground running my Renesis and have already
experienced plug fouling with carbon. That makes me suspicious that the
Mazda ignition system is marginal at best. Anyone have any comments??

We need not do that anymore because we have the
Mallory Hifire or MSD ignition systems where we can insert over one amp of
electrical energy into the plugs per thousand RPM. The rise times are so short and voltages
are so high, that even a carbon fouled plug fires
We use the NGK R6725-115 plugs, gapped at .010". They have a retracted gap
and fine wire electrodes. The heat range is ice cold. I have never fouled one.
We use a MSD for leading and trailing. Even driving slowly to the false grid on
a cold morning, no problems.
These LS1 replacement coils have 3 times the energy
of the stock coils and fire in a shorter time. Could these be worth
testing if Tracy's
controller is compatible?
