It's great to have a spouse who kicks your butt once in a while to get flying ... mine does the same. See likes to fly as much as I do and when I get building for too long she asks, "Why do we have 2 airplanes if we're not using either?" Glad to hear your plane is closer to home. Las Friday evening my wife said: We are going flying on Saturday. I said: did you rent a plane? No she said, we have a plane. Could not talk her out of it. On Saturday around 3 PM the winds were favorable for 08 with 6000 ft runway. She planted herself in the right seat and took over the check lists and communications. She requested from the tower "climb to 2000 and stay there for flight testing" Tower cleared us up and I pushed the throttle to the wall. Up we went. Turning downwind, tower called that they are not getting transponder signal. (Son of a bitch! Not Again) She asked if they want us to come back or we can stay? Tower said they can not see us on the radar and without transponder we'll have to come down. I was already even with the beginning of 08 when tower said "experimental go straight for the numbers, clear to land 08. Gulfstream on final". So I dove for the numbers. It was beautiful landing and there was a big audience watching :) Everything is happening so fast with these planes, there is no time to be scared. Tomorrow I'll taxi to the avionics shop to get this TX issue taken care of.
