Mounted an electric leaf blower in front of my P-51 style scoop to force air in the radiator and oil cooler. Warmed up the engine to 125F and did the "auto tune magic". I'm not quite sure if i was doing it right, But the high- power test later gave me 5750 rpm static (2650 prop) That's 250 rpm more than last night before the tuning. During the test I had a visitor. The guy that rebuilt my engine came buy and said that my turbo-exhaust is very restrictive and I should go in to 2 in one pipes and get rid of the heavy turbo castings. Took me to his race 12-B that's set up for 9-10,000 rpm. It is across the street in a aircraft muffler shop and showed me his race manifold. Looks like there are couple of hundred rpm to be gained from the exhaust change? I remembered George Graham uses straight out flexible SS tubes without a muffler and his engine does not sound bad. Also it is 8 feet behind me and points away from the cabin. this weekend may try to get it airborne again?
