Sorry for the delayed reply; pretty hectic lately.

Why pay for rectangular? What's the price of simple round tubes?

The California incident was around 15 years ago ('89?). A long portion of elevated freeway collapsed in an earthquake because the builders neglected to install rings of rebar on the vertical runs of rebar in the columns. There should be an ME on the list to explain what happens without them. This was big news after the earthquake, with an engineer crying in a  TV interview after realizing that he forgot to check for the rings while they were building the road. Crude drawing attached.

How will you support the forms under the poured lintels? (I bet you can build up wood beams for the cost of the support structure needed to hold the concrete up there until it cures :-) )
