I know Tracy recommends and uses the LS1 (D580) but has two failures with the D581 truck coils, due to over heating. This was obviously recognised by the manufacture by providing a heat sink to the D581 and calling it a D585 and Tracy does not now recommend the D581 - I believe. However I believe that a cold air inlet directed to the coils is recommended because of heat at the high end usage of Aviation. I don't believe the LS1 are considered substandard! George (down under)
