I'll show you the system at Oshkosh, but the idea is basically that all of the oil taken through the pump (circa 15 gallons per minute) is sent out to the oil cooler and then returned to the oil manifold on the side of the engine. The oil manifold has the pressure regulator before the filter, so that only the oil required by the gearbox and engine (circa 6 gpm) goes through the filter - the rest goes straight back to the sump. Francois and I will be at Oshkosh all week. I look forward to seeing you there. Group,
Below is an interesting exchange I had with "Mistral's" head engineer about
how they have configured the oil flow of their engines to increase flow to the
oil cooler and increase efficiency.........FWIW

Hi Kelly,

I don't have a flow diagram to hand unfortunately.

Best regards,

Gordon

Gordon,
I forgot to ask you a question in the last post.......Can you send me an
oil flow diagram of your engine.......You mentioned previously that the
Mistral system allowed for increased flow through the oil cooler to help
cooling efficiency........I would like to see how this was done........

Thanks,
