I totally missed the text on the builder's website:

Firewall forward kit arrived, today.  Once the parts were inventoried, I *painted the engine mount*.  When dry I *installed it to the engine*, then *installed the engine to the airframe* and set angle of incidence.  Installed the * exhaust system*...

Bwahaha!  What effort!  What an amazing feat of precise workmanship!  "I counted the parts, painted one and bolted it onto the airplane."  Like I said...a farce.
