Right Bill I misspoke, I meant to say VHF, or VHF Comm antenna. It seems to not be encapsulated, but solid Aluminum.

It it is sticking up vertically from the plane, it is most likely a COM antenna, since VOR antenna's are horizontally polarized and COM's are vertically polarized.

This is a picture of the antenna on the wreckage of a MiG-29 that is lying around our base. I am trying to "acquire" it, thinking that it is a VOR antenna and would make a neat addition to N4VY. I will not be easy for it to end up in my possession, so not worth it if it is not going to work.... anyone with more experience?
