If I were you I would go with the pitot inlet in the leading edge of the wing.

I've been thinking about that more than I aught to.  I think with a little artisitic fiberglass work that I could make the air intakes look like forward mounted cannons.  How far would a pitot type inlet have to extend in front of the leading edge.   I'll have to do some sketching, but maybe I can get Tracy to put the prop sync back on the front burner 8*)
