Greg, can't recall the Facet pump number (its been 9
years {:>)) - except it was the one that Van sells for aircraft.
I produces approx 6 psi fuel pressure and has the 37 deg flare fittings (An-6).
However, the fuel does flow through the pump just fine
when it is off. I only turn it on for:
1. Take Off
2. Landing
3. Switching tanks
The rest of the time it sits there passively while the
fuel flows through it.

Ed, did you run the Facet 40108 pump in
series, does the fuel flow through the pump when it is turned off, or
did you have a parallel bypass line and check
valve?
Thanks
Greg
Hi Greg,
I used Van's facet pump as a "boost" pump after the
tank selector valve and it has worked fine for 300 hours. It does get the
fuel flowing again after you have run the system dry (don't ask me how
I know). Note: not all facet pumps are made the same, they
have different pump pressure ratings and many have the 45 deg
automobile flared fittings rather than the 37 deg flare used in
aircraft. So get the one from Van's or some other reptuable aircraft
company.

Subject: [FlyRotary] fuel pump
Hi all excuse my ignorance but I'm trying to
finalise design of my fuel system. I need to know which fuel pump to
use as a primer in the case I run a tank dry in my low wing RV8. I
plan to place it just after the Andair 6 way fuel valve and in series
before the high pressure pumps. Are the Facet pumps sold by Vans
suitable? It is the model 40108 and ACS sells it as
well.
Thanks
Greg RV8
