What have others done for transporting auto fuel to the airport. My FWF test trailer is almost complete and I need to purchase a fuel tank. I find lost of tanks for diesel but not for gasoline. I would like to keep the tank for transferring fuel once flying. Any ideas? I am considering an above deck marine tank.

Hi Bobby,

I ran into the same problem of finding diesel, but not gasoline tanks.  Usually, you had to get into the fine print to find that little tidbit, and it also usually said not for gasoline in California, or something to that effect.  Best I could tell, it really came down to a liability issue more than anything.  I finally bought a 90 gallon aluminum tank for the back of my truck, and had the Line-X boys coat it like my truck bed.  Best I "recall", there wasn't any sticker that said you couldn't use it for gasoline :-)  It's got a pump, and meter on it, and works great.  At the airport, more people commented on the fuel setup, than the plane :-)

The other great use for the transfer tank around here has been hurricanes.  When you can't get gas, 90 extra gallons is mighty nice to have.

Cheers,
