Reading this thread makes me think about the stock and aftermarket manifolds for the RX-7.  One thing that the factory and reputable aftermarket have in common is that they are all built very heavy.  My Racing Beat Headers on my NA car must be 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch thick,  The stock turbo manifolds are very very thick cast iron, and guess what?  They still develop cracks.   Some of this is poor design of course, but I think on a pusher a point zero whatever thickness on anything in the exhaust sounds really fragile to me.
