After topping off with straight water and fixing my cap problem I flew back to Florida with no problems and the engine did not suffer any damage at all. If I had not throttled way back I'm sure it would have been a very different story though.

A young guy stopped by the house when I was in high-school. Wanted a jug of water. He was driving an old, English sports car of some type and had a hole in the radiator. He'd drive a few miles, till the water boiled out of the block, stop to pour another jug in and keep driving. Everything was fine, until that water jacket got boiled away. Didn't the Wright Flyer use the same technique?
Just thought it might be an interesting point.
