This is a tecnique used on Lycs' with poor case castings, WITH SEALANT. I would suggest that if you have GOOD castings/plates the thread will do more harm than good! Modern motorcycles with good castings use nothing but sealer ALWAYS. Yes Buly it can be a bi*#h to get off. The bike cases have frequently included a couple of jacking screws in an area with plenty of seal area.
