Has anyone used silk thread between the mounting plate and the gear housing
without using sealant?  And would this cause a problem?

Thanks Bob, I'll try it.

Hi Buly,

I haven't tried to take it apart yet, but I also used the gray
sealant.  I also, per Tracy's recommendation, put a light coat of oil
on one of the surfaces before pressing on the other side with the
sealant.  That's supposed to release easier and not cause any leak
problems.  I haven't had a leak problem in 1.3 hours running time on
the engine.

I received my updated driveshaft today. Thank you Tracy. Now, what's
the latest on the gear box assembly sealant. Last time I used the
recommended Permatex Super Gray and I could have welded it with the
same results :) It was a bear to split it from the mounting plate.
Did anybody come with anything better, or I just have to go the same
route? Thanks.
BTW I like this new "double stack" thrust bearing.
