The lead appears to be in crystal form on the ceramic in that you can = see the sparkle from individual lead crystals. I suspect it may be lead = sulfide crystals - I remember what they look like from the early days of = making my own "crystals" for my crystal radios. Melt a lead sinker in a = sewing thimble and then drop a chunk of sulfur into the molten lead. It = stunk, but did make usable crystal diodes from which to make oatmeal box = radios.
