Turbo Rotary Cozy IV N96PM (aka Slick Kitten) went to it's first
fly-in at Sebring last weekend. More important, my wife came along for her first
ride in the plane. The IVO prop is doing well and the temporary stock turbo is holding out (I'm being
very gentle with it). As reported a couple of weeks ago, I found that the Earls
filters were causing a fuel flow restriction at high rpm. With this resolved I'm
now getting 4950 rpm static on full fine pitch and much better acceleration on take-off.
Cruising at 4800 rpm and 30 MAP at 5000' (I
said I was being gentle) I got just under 7/gph and 160 kts GS on the
trip.
Another blissfully
uneventful 2.6 hrs. I wonder if I should log the trip, though, since I
only had the controls for a total of about 10 minutes. My wife flew the plane
the rest of the time. :(
By the way, the custom chairs in the picture came from
another Cozy builder, Len, who has recently set up http://flightlinechairs.com to fund
his composite habit. He duplicated my paint scheme and trim colors.
I think he'll even do RV's!

rotary" badge)
