You can buy a low molar concentration of HCL at almost any pool store. I don't think you will produce good results with acids though. The shell of the plug will be dissolved as fast or faster than the lead!
I really don't know Ernest. As best I recall we used lead containers in chemistry class in high school to contain acids - but, must admit that is a 50+ year recall {:>)
