Resisting, ha!!!

Building the RV-8 ( and with a Lyc to boost!) - you as an acomplished RV-builder will find it sooo boring, you will have no choice than to get going on the "science project"!!

Don't worry guys - he won't be able to stay away from the Rotary for long!! We'll hear from it/him soon!

Why not reduce more, go all the way to nearly flat pitch, from what I remember that prop is a little on the big side for the Kolb, isn't it.  Even if it doesn't produce any thrust (flat pitch), it works as a flywheel - At least you eleiminate ANY ( if there is...) stall issues at the tips....

Hi Thomas,

I thought about reducing it even more, but just don't believe it could be stalling at 10 degrees.

And why don't you have that brandnew, easy to work with, etc. ACES on the machine, yet??

You're absolutely right about the need to put the ACES analyzer on the engine.  The only problem with that is time.  The decision has been made to defer the single rotor project, and put my full attention on the RV-8.  I'm therefore trying to resist taking the ACES to the hanger.  I'm really looking forward to the whole science project, but I just ain't gonna do it now.

What I say is: You HAVE a vibration analysis tool - and an easy to use one! Try it! Props is just one ofthe many uses!

Trying hard to resist...

did you consider to run the PSRU without dampers? Even if you get a buzz or something like that you know that the dampers where the wrong ones....

I've considered it, but machining the solid dampeners would take more time than I'm willing to spend at the moment.  As you say, it would make a difference, but good or bad is anybody's guess.  I actually believe I need much softer dampeners, but I don't think there's enough room to make them give enough.  Keep in mind that this is nothing more than a SWAG.

Thanks for the comments.
