The canopy is hinged at the forward end of cockpit and the back of the canopy lifts up (Tilts -tips- up) to open as opposed to a "slider" where the canopy slides back like a fighter aircraft of W.W.II.

I know what is an RV-6 but what is an RV-6 tip up?
