Tom,
I’m building a Lancair ES. The
plans instruct the builder to put the return fitting at the top of each tank
and run it out about a foot. The Lancair wings have positive dihedral, so the
fuel naturally flows to the inboard bay. I think the most important thing is
to return it to the same tank you’re drawing from at the time.

Do we need to have fuel return lines in our low wing A/C? If
so, should I dump the returning fuel far away from the pick up? I kind of
remember some talk about this awhile ago! Getting ready to seal up the tanks.
