Yeah, pistons hitting the cowl make lots
of noise,… then silence. (ask me how I know this)

Muffler Sound Readings
I would
like to take some readings from a certified engine for
comparison. I measured 104db at 3000 & 4000 rpm from my spiral
flow
muffler.
I'd bet the average Lycoming would make a
lot more noise at 3000-4000 rpm :-)
