I was tempted, just that I have a fragile head light there. One of the Cozy guys did it, but he has a removable nose cone and he tested the thrust difference between the fixed pitch and Ivo props. It was Big difference.

How about putting a piece of foam/wood/whatever on the nose and let her push

Subject: [FlyRotary] Another engine run

Today afternoon I skipped from work and decided to run the engine
with my modified stock turbo. Last Sunday I removed the wastegate,
but had no time to run it. Today I was able to bring (static) it up-
to 3000 RPM and 30" MP with no problem. I have a homemade composite
monster prop 70" D x 82 pitch and very wide blades. I had the feeling
the engine would have gone higher if I pushed the throttle, but I was
alone and the brakes were starting to slip. Also EC manual is telling
that over 30" you have to be careful with the mixture etc.
I was afraid that with the wastegate gone, the turbo will be totally
ineffective, but looks like it maybe OK and it may last untill we get
the test results from Slade Turbo Testing Laboratories on the new TO4
Turbo.
I'm tempted to make a run on the 6K ft runway :)
