The MicroTech setup manual says to set the idle timing to 5Deg
ATDC – it also says that is the yellow mark on the pulley).
They're
probably right :-) At some point, you'll want to verify that the MicroTech is advancing the timing properly at higher rpms, but if the only timing adjustment
they gave was at idle, then I'd bet a few beers it's going to be right
everywhere.

Yep, MicroTech
has a “Timing Lock” feature that you turn on when you are setting
up the 5Deg ATDC so it doesn’t mess with any advance/retard while you’re
manually setting the timing. Then,
of course, they tell you to turn off the “lock” and rev the engine
to confirm advance is taking place.
So, that’s what I’ll do.
