Joe, the indications are your ignition timing is very retarded and should be advanced - overly retarded timing can cause high exhaust gas temps.

Al – you hit on something I’d forgotten. When I went to pick up my engine I took my Conversion Concepts mount and when we matched it up the front cover didn’t fit. So He changed out the front cover from a year that did fit.  I’m guessing that, like you, my pointer is off. I’ll re-check that tomorrow.
