Congratulations on getting back in the air. All things considered it
sound like a great day.

Sure was nice to get back into the air. Putting on the high
compression 9.7rotors, along with mild street porting and fixing any
poor compression that
I previously had, seems to have given me about 500 rpm for a given manifold
pressure without any apparent rise in the heat load. I also now have ceramic
coating on my manifold, turbine housing, and exhaust pipe. I believe this is
helping temps a noticeable amount.
I kept the MAP under 29 today, which I will do for a while to let things
break in. At 7000', 28" MAP, I was seeing about 6000 RPM and 150 KIAS.
Ground speed up around 180 kts. Max oil temp was 150 and max coolant temp
was 190. But is was a nice cool day.
Just when I thought everything was going great WHAM!. MAP suddenly drops to
17" for no reason.... There goes my last hope for a turbo I figure... I
wonder when the tower is going to note the smoke coming out of my
exhaust....
I land and taxi back without incident, no smoke..
Turns out one of the intake hose clamps was not on tight enough.... (huge
sigh of relief). Good thing that I have not yet installed my turbo oil shut
off valve, or I might have considered switching it on.
