To throw a wrench in the works, I was reading about the subject on = the RX-7=20 forum, and one guy claims that has weighed the counter weights and finds = that=20 all engines from 86-95 have the same counter weights!!  But I want = to=20 believe it because it would be easy.

I know that Mazda has different part numbers but I suppose they = could still=20 all be the same...

Hi=20 Dave,

I believe the=20 term is "wishful thinking" :-)  They have to be different for = different=20 weight rotors.

I can=20 probably lay my hands on a front counterweight for an 86-88 and = 89-91, and=20 I MIGHT (big might) have a rear counterweight in the attic for an = 89-91. =20 I've been meaning to look, since I've wondered about this several = times. =20 I'll try to check on both of these tomorrow if you don't get a better=20 answer.

And the worst part is that there was a pair of 9.7:1 rotors on = e-bay a=20 while back and I flaked and forgot to put in a bit...  they went = for $120=20 for the pair, but new ones are $600 each - ouch!

Ouch is=20 right.  Actually, I've picked up a few 9.7 rotors over the last = year, but=20 have also scrapped a couple from Ebay.  Some moron just threw two = rotors in=20 a box, with one layer of bubble wrap, then shipped it.  = They were=20 beat to hell, and I never got anything out of the guy.  If you = keep up=20 with the amount you spend for used rotors you can't actually use, = then it=20 might not be that much more expensive to buy new = :-(
