Interesting idea Bernie.
However, when I first had my RV-3 flying I think I had less than $18,000 in it, including tools, hangar rent and S/H for parts. Of course that was without a paint job :)
For the purpose of transport between Clearwater and Shady Bend an RV-4 might be more appropriate (more tools and building materials).
But I think that will be well into the future. I don't thin I have the money for both building materials and a plane.
I took a calculated risk by not having hull insurance and lost. But the best way to get my attention and drive a point home (like don't do anything that stupid) is probably at hit to the wallet :)

You might look at buying a 3 or 4 that is flying with a lycoming and sell
the lycoming so that you could install a rotary. Tom Benton's first RV3
just sold for 25k and it was an award winning airplane at SnF. You could
probably be flying a rotary for under 20 k if you sold the lycoming and
put a Finn rebuilt 13B in your airplane. Just a thought. Glad you are going to be around to build hangars and airplanes!
