An engine tuned for gasoline will perform poorly with ethanol. An engine set up to run premium won't like regular. An engine set up for regular will run badly on premium. You can convert a class 8 diesel to run propane, but you have to change a lot of things. Racers burning ethanol or nitro started doing it because it was easier to tune the engine at the ridiculous RPMs they were running. Ethanol and nitro burn faster, so the fuel has time to burn before the piston is coming back up to push the exhaust gas out of the cylinder. Notice that none of the NASCAR guys are burning ethanol, even with all the millions that those guys pour into R&D. It's because fuel stops actually count as race time. -- ,|"|"|, | ----===<{{(oQo)}}>===---- Dyke Delta | o| d |o www.ernest.isa-geek.org |
