I was building my house and I used = metric for the first time - well I cut this length of timber 3 times and = still got it wrong - back to inches. The government was determined we had to move to metric and even = insisted on all tape measures were in metric - that lasted about 6 = months- there was a lot of complaints. Now most of the tape measures = have both measurements. BTW now I use both! Kelly, you should have seen me when they first introduced metric = into=20 Australia ( 77/78 I think). I was building my house and I used = metric for=20 the first time - well I cut this length of timber 3 times and still = got it=20 wrong - back to inches.
