I paste the extra wide messages into word pad or simmilar RTF editor and
then copy and paste that back into my mail program.  I am pretty much a
plain text e-mailer but understand that colour sometimes makes a response
easier to read.

Can you tell me how you changed the message from what Jim sent to this
message which has an html mime attachment?  I have the same problem
with all of Jim's emails.
