This shape would also be better in steep climbs. Modifying the original pan would cost less than making a new one from scratch. For those who are NOT planning on putting the radiator underneath, there is no practical limit on pan capacity. For those who plan to put the radiator underneath (which is my interest) then the shape of the pan needs to correspond with the top of the wedge shaped radiator plenum.
